New line from Common Projects: New Editions

Wednesday, November 09, 2011 by James McNally

Common Projects is known for making the most well designed and smartly engineered sneakers available - leveraging the same intense quality of Dior, Lanvin, or Margiela - but eschewing the fussiness, and sticking more closely to traditional athletic shoe aesthetics. And now that Common Projects is as close to perfection as a high end sneaker can be - the only question is, what’s next?

The answer is in the New Editions collection. For this new endeavor, launching in Spring ‘12 at Tres Bien, CP focuses it’s sights on more casual sneakers, and imbues them with the fanatic devotion to quality and design that has pushed CP so far. Imagine comfortable, everyday sneakers that you can kick around in without a second thought, and add in subtle but key upgrades like Vibram soles, leather linings, and by-hand construction: New Editions keeps the pricepoint and accessibility of truly everyday and everywhere sneakers, but still elevates casual footwear far above the ordinary.

The grey hi tops are a must. Will probably buy the tan or black lo tops as well.

can you guy seriously consider picking up size 46 in more of your shoes. i love tres bien but i usually have to shop elsewhere because you guys seem to refuse to carry that size. I'm especially a fan of visvim and cp but i can tell that i'm going to be shopping around for the ss12 stuff. always seems to be only up to 11 in the visvim although they clearly offer up to 12 in a lot of the styles. anyway end rant. thanks

The blue ones are the nicest in my opinion. What will they retail?

Anonymous said...

you say "New Editions keeps the pricepoint and accessibility of truly everyday and everywhere sneakers", what does this mean will it be on par with the standard achilles, or less?

New Editions retail = $125-$155

Thats a good price. Will definitely buy 2 pairs. When do these drop?

Anonymous said...

$125 for canvas vulcanized sneakers. So pretty much high end Vans.

Anonymous said...

I think theyre beautiful, far nicer than a pair of vans. when might they drop?

Anonymous said...

Are they made in Italy still?.. or China?

Anonymous said...

China, I'd say.

pic of the soles?

Très Bien Shop said...

The sole wasn't finalized on the samples, hence the lack of images, but it'll be a Vibram sole which will be great.

125$? Can you guys from Tres Bien confirm that? So that's about 1000 SEK?

Très Bien Shop said...

@Daniel: The prices aren't 100% confirmed but they'll retail around $125-150. So somewhere around 1000 SEK, yes!

This is the embodiment of everything I want in a everyday shoe. Being over forty makes you think twice about what you walk out of the house in. No doubts with these. Will acquire.

Finally a pair of CPs you shouldn't think twice about ordering. They look really good. You guys better stock up that shit!

Hello Tres Bien, when they say the shoes will have a vibram sole, are they referring to soles similar to the Diemme Roccia boots? Seems too good to be true!!

Très Bien Shop said...

@Anonymous: No, the sole will look like the ones shown in the pictures. It's a classic vulcanized sneaker sole but manufactured by Vibram.
